Java Engineer
Come develop software, work with mainstream technologies and expand your knowledge about wine all at the same time as a member of our growing technology team. Our organization is looking for a motivated self-starter to join our growing team. We are looking for individuals that are results-oriented, focused, adaptive to change, and thrive in a startup environment to build the premier technology platform for wine e-commerce.
We are headquartered in Napa but have a San Francisco office and allow telecommuting when the schedule allows.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Participate in software requirements, implementation and design meetings.
- Develop new product features, bug-fixes and enhancements.
- Code unit tests and contribute to the development and maintenance of an automated build system.
Requirements
- 2-5 years of experience developing Java-based web applications.
- Strong knowledge of Java, J2EE, Servlets, JSPs, JDBC.
- Strong OO design and programming skills.
- Strong SQL and RDBMS development skills.
- Working experience with HTML/CSS/JavaScript.
- Working experience with at least one Java MVC framework, such as Struts, JSF, Spring MVC, Tapestry or Wicket.
- Working experience with Apache, Tomcat and JBoss servers, or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of source control, build automation and unit testing principles and tools.
- Full software development lifecycle (SDLC) experience.
- Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to operate within short release cycles.
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Sciences, Math, or other related field; or, equivalent work experience.
Desirable
- Experience developing a distributed, redundant, scalable application a tremendous plus.
- Working experience with Hibernate or equivalent ORM framework.
- Working experience with Spring or EJB or equivalent application framework.
- Strong Linux/Unix command line skills.
- Wicket development a plus

- Work closely with the product team on reviewing, understanding and prioritizing functional requirements.

- This is a tech leadership position, not a management position. Candidates must have recent hands on experience with Java and related technologies.
- Solid background with 4-8 years of experience developing Java-based web applications.
